TGTWAO: Thank Goodness the Weekend's Almost Over

On Friday night, except for what I perceived as an impromptu 4:00am dance party in the family room, the hellions spent the night in our rec room sized tent in our backyard. I haven’t spotted Princess Sparkle since this picture was taken 24 hours ago. To the best of my knowledge, she is still up in her bed sleeping-off this not-soon-to-be-forgotten night of 13 year old revelry. All I have to go on is that yesterday afternoon, when I returned home from running errands, there was evidence that some “hair of the dog” cake-eating had taken place.

So you remember how proud I was of myself and Lily the other day for our amazing progress in dog training? Yesterday, Cesar Milan and Victoria Stillwell would even have been wowed by Lily’s off- leash walking around the yard with us, as we cleaned up evidence of the campers. Thankfully, those pesky bears that hang around in the wilds of Myrtle Beach weren’t in the vicinity, or there could have been some real excitement.

So in the afterglow of Lily the Labradoodle’s recent successes, last night I made the rash decision to invite her from the confines of her crate in the laundry room, to the floor of her masters’ chamber.

For the same reason that Slumdog Millionaire received an R rating, I warn the faint of heart away from viewing the following crime scene I woke up to this morning.

Lily totally destroyed one of the half dozen beds, I’ve unsuccessfully introduced. But that’s not the worst of it: One of God’s stuffed creatures, in this case, The Llama in Pajamas, has been viciously blinded.

As a family we have loved Llama guy for over 10 years. We will continue to love him, just as we did when we first got him and he still wore red striped pajamas.

According to my grandmothers’ wisdom and since I’m the one who overestimated Lily’s maturity and obedience skills, I must say something nice about Lily, or not say nothing at all. Or something like that.

“Lily was quite considerate to leave Llama’s eyeballs out in the open and lined up precisely as if they were back on his face.”

This says to me that Lily regretted her Wolfkinz (Webkinz plus Wolf equals Wolfkinz) behavior immediately. With the aid of a skilled team of surgeons perhaps Llama’s sight can be restored, or at least delicately superglued.

After taking the above photos and some first rate detective work, I checked my mail and was very excited to have received this Beautiful Heart award from my friend, Sheri, at A Novel Menagerie. I have not yet cleaned up the crime scene because I don’t feel like it.

This award also goes to the bloggers who put their hearts, mind and soul into their blogs and give us a glimpse into their worlds. They are positive and may not realize it, but are leading by example. They inspire with their words, educate and inform. They entertain and uplift with their humor. They are welcoming, helpful and friendly and no one is a stranger, whether you’ve commented once or a million times. They are ever so wise and giving. Most of all, they have Beautiful Hearts.

Thanks, Sheri! I would like to give this award to the following blogs, all of which I adore:

Blueviolet at Nut in a Nutshell
Lilu at Live it, Love it
Jenn at Of Cabbages and Kings

These bloggers have got it all going on, each in their own unique way. It’s easy for anyone to see through their blogs that they all have “beautiful hearts.” Ladies, I’m not sure what the rules are, so let’s say there aren’t any. Pass it along if you’re so inspired, but most importantly, please keep just doing what you’re doing. Congratulations!

  • Sounds like a busy weekend!

  • Bad Lily, Bad! Please put Llama back together again!

With Labs, you know they are chew-a-holics until they are 2 or so. You have to give them things that they can chew. Have you tried bully sticks? Don’t do rawhide as labs eat them too fast and they can swell in the stomach.

Also, Tori (my lab) was crated at night until she was 2 years old. But, now she is the BEST dog in th world and never chews on anything! It’s the sneaky pup that I’m worried about!

Anyway, good luck with the Lil’s.

  • Aw, thank you so much! That’s one of the sweetest awards I’ve ever seen. I don’t think I could put any more of myself into my blog if I tried ;-)

    Thanks, love!

  • Oh, the dog chewing tales i could tell…..our dog once chewed an excercise machine, called a Cardio Glide into oblivion. We’ve survived many a sleep over although I used to call them ‘Stay Awake Overs” ! btw, thanks so much for visiting and joining my blog! Your pictures today made me laugh.

  • This just proves that old adage: You can teach a labradoodle to play the piano, but you can’t teach it to not eat stuffed llamas.

Well, they say it where I grew up, anyway.

  • Yeah! Group hug! :) xxx ooo

  • Mom (also Margo),I know you loved all of my friends yelling and avioding makeing any effort to fathom the concept of sleep!
