More Provencal Color
This was taken yesterday in Roussillon, a small town in Provence, France. Usually there is at least one ugly car, several giant recycling bins and countless utility wires obstructing potential photographs. I was so excited about this shot that I drank a whole bottle of Tattinger by myself last night! Today, a headache – but it was worth it!
The following two photos were taken from a cafe on le Cours Mirabeau in Aix en Provence from almost the same vantage point . Which nationality do you think is more chic?
I like the way the woman on the right in this second photograph (who I’m 999% sure is French because she and her friend just happened to run into each other and were speaking French), is rocking that neck brace. French women even make the transition from scarves to injury wear flawlessly!
This little French baby was making a frenzied racket right behind me the whole time. I notice many French babies are barely clothed and are allowed to be wild messes in public places. This seems very wise. Why? Because eventually it leads to having the mysterious national advantage of being totally restrained in public and able to wear clothes that are essentially masses of wrinkled fabric and remind one of Catherine Deneuve.
On a final note, there is this from a shop window in the same city:

Any thoughts on what’s going on here?

Great shots … although the last one has me very confused !!!!!!!
I thought that lady with the neck brace WAS wearing a scarf.
One of the French guys here at work apparently lets his kids run around in the nude at home, so apparently they brought it over here from le pays de la mere.

Okay, on the last photo, are they maybe postulating “who is the top banana?”?
And that was really a neck brace? I thought it was some kind of chic new necklace.
I’m going to email you about France. And drive you nuts. My husband just figured out he has enough points to take all of us to Paris for a week next year. Now, you might be saying hip-hip hooray for me. But I’m saying hip hip, lose weight!

How wonderful! You have captured Provence in all its quirks and glory. Bravo. S.
The photo from Rousillon is truly spectacular. Have some more Tattinger.
Marg,
You should be a travel writer — You paint such vivid miniature portraits, while sharing your viewpoint and your heart. I feel as if I am right there with you. Much better than Peter Mayle. Think about a book. – E
