I am not good about posting blog awards. You’ll just have to believe me when I say that my intentions are as good as they come. I call myself “action item challenged.” You call it whatever you want. I hate labels anyway.
As I wrote this today, I recognized something important: Once relentless messages of self flagellation saying, “Well, it’s about time!” filled with school marm bite, have faded into the distant past. Surprise- I have a history as my own worst critic.
I tell you this because if you recognize this way of being – stop. Don’t waste another minute. It may feel right and as if this is the only way to treat yourself, but you would be wrong. Trust me. Isn’t it weird how easily we know exactly what is best for others, but not for ourselves?
So this is my rambling, over-thinking way of saying “sorry” and “thanks” to the people who have recognized Life in the Short Lane recently. Okay, kinda recently. I am cleaning house metaphorically (blogaphorically?). Beats the heck out of scrubbing real tubs.
Back in August I was named runner up in Post of the Day for my post Lavender Feast by the fabulous Authorblog. David at Authorblog is a recent discovery for me. Besides being just plain delightful, his blog seems to serve as a nexus for creative bloggers from all across the world. His special place in blogland is like an elegant dinner party filled with fascinating guests. Check it out!
Ann at A Nice Place in the Sun started the You Cheer Me Up award and passed it along to me a while back. This fits perfectly because Ann’s blog reigns as most positive humor blog I’ve come across. Anyone who loves Lucy, quotes Maya Angelou and invokes the name of my late boyfriend, E.B. White, all in one post, is at the top of my reading list. And besides, I consider cheering anyone up to be the hugest of compliments.
This award must be making the rounds… I got another You Cheer Me Up award this past week from one of my first blogging friends, Staci, at Just Bloggled: When Life Gets a Little Baffling. The girl’s a riot – readers can always count on her telling it like it is.
Last but not least, is the Your Blog is BLEEPING Fabulous from my friend Lin at Duck and Wheel with String. She says she likes me even though I write about bikinis. I like her even though she writes about frogs, and other critters, some allergenic, some not, as well as other backyard flotsam and jetsam. I hope she will still like me even though I’m not following the rules. I still love her even though this award contains the F-word – I know that as a fellow mother of teenage girls, outside of blogland she reserves the usage of the F-word for those special emergencies.
Without meaning to go all schmaltzy, instead of passing these awards on, I just want to say you all cheer me up. And I think you are all *bleeping fabulous*. Seriously. Even if you never comment. That’s quite a gift you have! There are at least five or six or you - right? But jump in and comment if you ever feel like it – but you don’t have to!
And for all of you who are in US – don’t labor too hard today.

I am horribly awful about posting awards too. I appreciate them. I really do but posting them is not a strength of mine. I am quite impressed with your ability to get these up here.
Congratulations to you and to the others

If I were in charge of my awards they would get posted but the publicist is in charge of them. And she is just not good at these things. I should butt here but then I would not get treats. And I love treats.
These are very bad sentences but I know it.

It is great that you notice your downfalls and want us to NOT do the same. Unfortunatly, we all do the same thing.
I stopped posting and passing awards a while ago. It just seemed like more of my ‘to do’ list and I can’t go there.
Hope your day was nice.
take care,
suz

Thanks for the reminder not to beat myself up. I’m pretty good at it though, darn it!
And props to you.
Congratulations on your awards! And don’t worry, I did not labor at all today.

kudos to you.. i always like your blogs..

Oh, Margo–I hate awards too! And I only pass them on when I absolutely have to. Don’t worry, I’m never offended when it isn’t passed on, displayed, or acknowledged–I do the same. It’s just a waste of a good post, I say. I’m glad you stick around the Duck and Wheel even if it is oftentimes written around the goofs in my life. Boring, yes–but now your verbage is littered with words like “froglet” and “orange ottoman” thanks to me.
And, oh, I’m terrible with the cuss words–I’m not as careful as you would think. It’s my one great downfall after years in the trucking industry. You do have a great “effing” blog, pally!

Kudos on your well-deserved awards!
Have a great week.
xo
Congrats on all the awards. Since I nominated you for your Lavender Fields post, wasn’t surprised by that at all!

Congrats! It’s a double-edged sword w/awards…isn’t it? We all want a ton of ‘em, but then we need to post…and send them on…and on…and on.
I know a blogger who put them all on a slideshow, he had so many.

Okay, I’m too distracted to comment. I think about this every time I visit and never ask.
What is the deal with Feedburner & changing your RSS feed? Is it because it only counts how many people checked today, versus actual subscribers Or because occasionally all your readers disappear for a day or two, then return? Or…

Wendy, I just had a heck of a time moving subscribers over from google/blogger friends when I moved from blogger. Google also owns feedburner and it just got to be a treacherous joke. One day they’d be there and the next day, not… and not just the counts. The thing about Google friends is they are attached to one url – you can’t just move them over. I tried a bunch of different things and finally when I moved over to feedblitz most came over in subscriber count – which I had pretty much given up on. There were 30 or so who are still on feedburner so I’ve kept that account too.
You dated old E.B. too? He must have been two-timing me.

I am not good at those award thingy’s either.

you are so right. I used to beat myself up all the time. Not much anymore. I’m doing the best I can and if you want more, I say, look elsewhere

Congratulations on your awards, Margo! (I’m the same way about passing them on…)

I am going to stop by these sites. They look great.

There are no hard and fast rules about passing on blog awards and especially memes! Not in my world, at least!
Oh, my! I think I still have some outstanding memes from a year ago?
Trying to do multiple things at once? I call it:
“Multi-Assing.”
Sorry, terrible pun. I need to obviously work more on my own writing?
