I Wish I Were an Egret

How cool would it be to be an egret?
To leave behind dems, reps, cable television -
Life in a 140 characters or less.

Find something to share that’s not hate
Release that firm grasp on moral high ground,
Only imagined.

Makes me wonder why Richard Bach didn’t choose the egret
Instead of that flying rodent
Just look how skinny her legs are!

Ladybird, ladybird fly away home
But only if you choose.
Still, couldn’t this Joe Wilson have been from another state?

*Have been writing a lot for the past couple of days, and this poem is kinda all that would come out just now. Come to think of it, Jonathan Livingston Egret doesn’t sound so great. Is anyone else out there tired? Been to any good movies lately?

I love the message for no hate. Amen!

Joe Wilson’s heckling was indeed shocking. And sad. Joe Biden looked about to punch him out . . . guess he found some egret peace before he lost it.

Gorgeous shot! And great poem! (I’d forgotten about Jonathan Livingston Seagull… an old high school teacher LOVED that story!)

I actually thought of you last night… I thought… aw… he had to be from South Carolina.

Egrets and swans are like the supermodels of birds. But i always wonder if they are stuck up.

I wonder if the egret has a fish tank that’s making a funny noise and keeping him up at night? Probably not. He’d just eat the fish. Wish I was the egret then. At least I’d get some sleep.

In answer to your question, yes, I’m tired, and no, I haven’t seen any good movies lately. I’ve just seen movies on the premium channels that have promise but then have the world’s suckiest ending. (cough-The Mist-cough) I guess it’s what I get for not wanting to spend money on popcorn.

Maybe I am tired, maybe just unmotivated. Your photo is beautiful however. And I’m glad to hear that you have been writing! Or not writing?

This is very nice. And the picture is lovely.

But what drew me here from my RSS was my inner Grammar Nazi. I’m so happy that you said “were” instead of “was” in your title. No one EVER uses that one properly.

Bravo.

Back under my rock I go.

hah! I guess anyone who was around in the 60s for a certain Oscar Mayer hot dog commercial had it drilled into them!

When we lived in NJ we lived in the Forsythe Wildlife Refuge. Right in the middle of a saltmarsh. It was bird heaven. Egrets and herons everywhere. And Ibis. I love Ibis. They all look so prehistoric, don’t they?

Richard Bach clearly hasn’t visited the Bi Lo parking lot. Casting my vote for J. Livingston Egret!

Lovely image! It would be fun to be an egret for a day or two. :)

I had this post up on my computer for a while wanting to comment, but kept getting distracted. It’s so peaceful.
